Long Beach, NY – The City of Long Beach has released its official Surf Schedule for summer 2012. This schedule is now available on the City’s website at longbeachny.org. We are pleased to announce a schedule that keeps a reasonable balance for swimmers and surfers alike,” states City Council President Fran Adelson. “The City has taken last year’s successful pilot program and expanded it to include additional rotating surfing beaches.”

In response to the increasing popularity of Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP), the ESA Board of Directors is stoked to announce the inaugural season of SUP, introducing a men’s and women’s combined, all ages Open SUP Division. The Open SUP Division will be run in all districts this year, with the top ranked competitors earning coveted slots to Regional Championship events and the Eastern Surfing Championships (“The Easterns®”).

The upcoming Regionals and the 2012 Eastern Surfing Championships will feature an invitational SUP event, “The Jimmy Lewis Invitational,” welcoming SUP to the ESA and introducing the Jimmy Lewis brand as the official sponsor of stand-up paddleboards and surfboards for the ESA.

Of the new partnership and SUP entering the ESA, Jimmy Lewis said, "I'm excited to sponsor Surfing and Stand-up Paddleboarding in this year's ESA contest schedule. Paddleboarding comes from surfing, so it's good to see them side by side in the waves and in competition. The ESA is the perfect partner to grow SUP as a true surfing sport."

The inaugural Jimmy Lewis Invitational will be held at the upcoming 2012 ESA Southeast Regional Championship in New Smyrna Beach, FL April 19 through April 22.

BANZAI PIPELINE, Oahu/Hawaii (Saturday, December 10, 2011) - Kieren Perrow (AUS), 34, has won the most coveted surfing event in the world - the Billabong Pipe Masters in Memory of Andy Irons - over fellow countryman Joel Parkinson (AUS), 30, in tricky double-overhead surf. The result came after three consecutive days of competition in some of the biggest, deadliest and best Pipe conditions in history. The event also set a record for the most online viewers in ASP history.

At twelve years old Tanner McDaniel’s (Kauai) has done something no other USBA rider has ever done. Tanner has taken out three divisions in the Amateur portion of the Bubbakoo’s Jenks Pro/Am at Seasides Casino Pier. With permission from the USBA he competed up an age group to gain access to stiffer competition and dismantled every competitor in his path.

The Quiksilver Pro New York, supported by vitaminwater,  arrives in Long Beach, New York from September 1-15. The inaugural U.S. event in the Quiksilver Pro Global Series,which also includes pinnacle events in France and Australia, The Quiksilver Pro New York can already claim its spot as the largest assemblage of music talent and athletes for an action sports competitive event.
