Late Summer Nicaragua Swells Bring Empty Lineups

These past few weeks have brought some absolutely phenomenal swells to Nicaragua. Empty line-ups, offshore winds, and back-to-back waves stacked the entire coast for surfers all over to enjoy. These photos were taken by our friends at Adventure Sports Tours. They have a killer location in La Barra that overlooks one of Nicaragua's most playful waves! Just around the corner by boat, Puerto Sandino, a 300 meter left breaking on sand just outside a large estuary, remains one of the worlds best waves! If you are interested in booking a vacation or just simply doing some surf travel, check out for a great trip!

The Manasquan High School Surf Team extends a huge aloha to the local surf community for coming out to support the Big Sea Day Surf Contest on Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Manasquan Inlet Beach

For the 9th year, the Foster’s Belmar Pro is looking forward to the kind of tropical swells that turn the East Coast into a surf haven each September, some new events, wholesome family fun, and truly legendary surfers.

SEAPaddle's 26.5 mile paddle race around the entire island of Manhattan returns to New York's waterways Friday, August 17, 2012 with professional surfer Joel Tudor, professional SUP Rob Rojas and David Chokachi of Baywatch leading 200 participants to raise dollars and awareness for Autism.

A little over a week ago, Jetty ran their 4th Annual Coquina Jam, the all-female surf contest benefitting David’s Dream & Believe Cancer Foundation.  This year, the contest moved back to its original location at Hudson Avenue in Harvey Cedars, NJ.     The event splits a field of female surfers into “old” & “young” pools and then randomly pairs teammates by selecting one surfer from each pool.  This year the size of the field expanded from 32 to 40 surfers and drew competitors from all over the East Coast.  As the clean morning surf gave way to a Southeast wind and dropping tide, the girls still managed to connect turns and prove that the surf was contestable.  A crowd of 500+ spectators enjoyed cold clams on the half shell, pizza and a number of other activities thanks to the event’s beach sponsors.  At the end of the day the team of Jamie DeWitt & Jess Kwiecinski took down runners-up Jess Stabile & Rae Ricciardi  and third place finishers Ashley Sanchez & Selena Moberly.
