Tanner McDaniel’s takes it all home for Kauai

At twelve years old Tanner McDaniel’s (Kauai) has done something no other USBA rider has ever done. Tanner has taken out three divisions in the Amateur portion of the Bubbakoo’s Jenks Pro/Am at Seasides Casino Pier. With permission from the USBA he competed up an age group to gain access to stiffer competition and dismantled every competitor in his path.

It seemed the surf suited the young Tanner and his light frame perfectly. A 3-4 ft groomed and polished conditions started the day at the Seaside Casino Pier. Even thought conditions did tend to deteriorate with late day onshore winds, Tanner’s surfing did not.  Tanner even with his exhaustion of surfing heat at heat still continued to put on a show with big moves.

Tanner had the highest wave total in the entire contest with a Back flip to Roll and a Air Roll Spin to 360, to gain a 18 point wave total which was the highest of the event.

The Drop Knee amateur event was won by Kahelikli Labette (Maui) with some awesome snaps and floaters to take out the final.

We are the USBA are proud of our Amatuer riders efforts and commend them for great sportsmanship and their high performance levels.
