Today was a great day for Bodyboarding at the New Jersey Shore. A decent crowd skipped out on school or work today to see the worlds best bodyboarders due battle at the famous Jenks beach. The waves came through and provided a canvas for the athletes to tear apart piece by piece.
Trevor Kam (Hawaii Kai, Hawaii) had the performance of the day moving into the Quarterfinals with a massive Air Roll on the heaviest section that came through the entire day. Jacob Romero ( Wailuku, HI) had amazing flips and inverts that had him winning another heat for the Hawaiians. Matt Holzman and Alan Lamphere battled to the last second for a first/second finish. Dave Hubbard (Lihue Kauai) really shredded one of the most action packed heats of the event ousting a Jason Bitzer (Manasquan,NJ) in the process. Alberto Collucci (VNZ) made his heat in fine form as well. Jeff Hubbard (Lihue, Kauai) advanced moving closer to his 4th Jenks Pro title with a Kainoa French (Poipu, Kauai) surfing well as well and advancing. Keahi Parker had some great waves and big moves to win his heat. Nester Toro was the loan foreigner that won his heat, however a slew of his countrymen will meet the field in the Qtr. finals set for Sunday the 9th of September.
The conditions stayed clean for the women all day and some big performance came from Ismar Vivas (VNZ) with clean rolls and barrels. Roberta Bitzer won her second heat of the competition, clinching her third USBA Women’s Pro title and third Jenks Pro finals birth. Lordes Infanter (VNZ) had some big charging skills that will place her in the finals along side her countrywomen Isebelia Valdevisio.
