Outerknown just became the Fiji Pro title sponsor for men and women. The World Surf League announced yesterday that OK signed on to become the main sponsor for the next three years. The Fijian Island's of Namotu and Tavarua are home to some of the most amazing people, and surf breaks in the world. Cloudbreak and Restaurants are both world-class surf spots that give the event amazing waves every year.
Outerknown, if you didn't know is owned by famed professional surfer and tour competitor Kelly Slater. His company is a leader in the industry for self-sustainability in all aspects. Fiji is a fitting event for them to take over.
The WSL says “A staple of the WSL Championship Tour (CT) schedule, the Fiji stop epitomizes the "Dream Tour" concept and exists as a fan and athlete favorite.” This event is definitely one of the most popular events of the year for everyone. The waves there really allow the surfers to compete against one another in a fashion that is exceptional to view. It’s great for the WSL that OK would become the main sponsor of the event, and it ensures that we get to see it for the next three years.

It's incredible what Slater is capable of out there, he has won the thing four times. The last time Kelly won was in 2013 when it was the Volcom Fiji Pro. Since that time the event has gone without a sponsor.
The history of the event is fascinating from stories of raging kava indused party antics to some of the biggest barrels ever paddled into. It’s a special place.
