Each winter, Oahu’s illustrious North Shore serves up some of the largest and most impressive waves in the world. Massive storm generated swells make a long trek across the Northern Pacific to pummel the islands reef breaks and the areas shoreline. Experienced surfers from all over the globe, travel thousands of miles to tackle some of the best waves this planet has to offer, including many from the NY/NJ region!
As the Northeast braced itself for winter storm Nemo, TSV jumped on a flight out of JFK to Honolulu in attempt to escape the brutal cold conditions forecasted for the week ahead. With temperatures in the 80’s and wave heights in the 7-12ft range projected throughout the week, there wasn’t a doubt in our mind that we were making a wrong decision! Upon arrival, we were greeted with beautiful weather, surreal rainbows, aqua blue ocean water with temps in the mid 70’s, gorgeous women, friendly locals and super fun waves! Between surf sessions throughout the North Shore, we were able to capture the raw power of what Hawaii has to offer during an average week in the winter.
