New Jersey Surf Forecast Synopsis - 09/5/10..... These last few days, the swell brought on by Hurricane Earl turned out to be a great time for most surfers, depending on what beach you we at and what time.  Friday saw the biggest surf that is for sure, but Saturday was the day to hit it early, as we still saw some good size and  clean offshores for most of NJ! Unfortunately, the surf this week doesn't seem to compete with what we got to enjoy these past few days.   Looking early into  this week to mid week, expect lingering SE background swell with wave heights only reaching knee high or so. Biggest on Monday.  Late Thursday into Friday a new ESE swell should fill in, bringing the surf back up to knee high with a few waist high sets on average.  Further out than that... not much to talk about for next weekend as we are only seeing signs of minimal surf at about knee high or so.  The good news is that there is a good chance of another system down off the Leeward Islands to become tropical cyclone again as it moves Westward.  Lets hope we get to enjoy another similar hurricane with a little bit more juice this time!  Have a great Labor Day!

Labor Day. /6th Looking like a great holiday beach day all around!  Mostly sunny skies @ 85° with waves in the knee to thigh high range from a background SE swell.  A few bigger sets are likely to roll through at the right tide.  Winds will be NW in the morning, switching to ESE by mid day, but only 5kt or so.
Tuesday./7thBackground SE swell is expected once again, however it takes a drop off from Monday with wave heights only going to be ankle to knee high.  Winds will be WSW for most of the day, then will switch off to SSW by mid afternoon.

Wednesday./8th

Same ol deal for Wednesday unfortunately.  The waves stay small and switch more E.  SW winds all day.

Extended Outlook

Late Thursday into Friday, a new ESE swell should fill in, bringing the surf back up to knee high with a a few waist high sets on average. Further out than that.. not much happening as we look into next weekend. Minimal surf is expected. In the tropics we have our eye on another system swinging off the Leeward Islands.  It has a good chance of becoming a tropical storm as it heads Westward.
